Japan Men’s Fifteens Training Squad Announced
Brave Blossoms Head Coach Eddie Jones has announced his Training Squad for 2024. The 33-member squad consists of players not taking part in the Japan Rugby League One playoffs, as well as eight players from Japan’s university rugby competition, seven of which are part of Eddie Jones’ 14-member Japan Talent Squad.
The squad will assemble for a training camp in Sugadaira, Nagano Prefecture from May 20-29. A skier’s paradise in winter and a rugby mecca for the remainder of the year, the idyllic, high-altitude location will be deeply familiar to many of the players as Sugadaira plays host to regular training camps for high school and university teams from across the Kanto region. The mountain resort also hosted the Italian National Team for their pre-tournament camp ahead of Rugby World Cup 2019.
The Training Squad camp will be an important step for the 2024 season of Japan’s national teams which includes a packed calendar of international matches for both the Japan XV and Brave Blossoms. The action kicks off on Saturday June 22 when the Brave Blossoms take on England at Tokyo’s National Stadium in the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2024.
