Sakura Sevens Take Tenth Place

The 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the seventh edition of the tournament. It was held at the AT&T Park in San Francisco in the United States from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 July 2018. Both men and women competed at the World Cup. There were 24 teams in the men’s competition and 16 teams in the women’s competition. Japan qualified for both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

For the first time, the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens was a knock-out only format.

Teams competing in the women’s tournament were:, Australia (2), Brazil (14), Canada (3), China (12), England (8), Fiji (7), France (6), Ireland (9), Japan (11), Mexico (16), New Zealand (1), Papua New Guinea (15), Russia (4), South Africa (13), Spain (10) and the USA (5).

Japan finished tenth overall.
