Japan Team Announced for HSBC Singapore Sevens

The Japan Rugby Football Union is happy to announce the Japan Men’s Sevens Team to play at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Singapore, from April 9 to 10.

The team is once again led by co-captains Kazuma Nakagawa and Yuki Ishii who also led the team as co-captains back in January at the Malaga and Seville Sevens in Spain. This weekend sees four new debutants set to earn their first caps for Japan with Daisuke Yoshida from the Yokohama Canon Eagles, Shintaro Yokose from Hitachi Sun Nexus, Ren Takano from Kintetsu Liners and Hibiki Yamada from Keio University all coming into the team.

Japan Men’s Sevens National Team Interim Head Coach, Koichi Umeda commented:

“Since our last two tournament in January, we have had some exciting new players come into the national team setup. We have been working hard since Spain to address some of the issues in our play and are looking forward to the challenge this weekend in Singapore. We want to thank our fans back in Japan and around the world for all their support.”

Japan are set to take on France, Ireland and Fiji in Pool D.
