Langford Sevens: Day 1
The HSBC World Rugby Women’s World Series Langford Sevens is being held in Langford, Canada from 12-13 May 2018.
The 2018 Canada Women’s Sevens is the fourth of five rounds in the 2017-18 HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series.
Japan are in Pool B along with France, the USA and Russia. Meanwhile, series leader Australia are in Pool C along with Canada, Spain and Ireland with New Zealand, Fiji, England and Brazil making up Pool A. Coming into the Langford leg, Australia sit on top of the standings with 56 points from New Zealand on 50 points.
Japan are one of the eleven core teams on the series, while Brazil participate in Langford as the final team.
The Sakura Sevens ended day one with one win and two losses in their pool matches. In their first game, Japan lost 33-7 to France before beating Russia 24-7 early in the afternoon. In their third and final game in Pool B, the USA beat the Sakura Sevens 28-7 later in the afternoon. Japan finished third in their pool.
