Brave Blossoms to Host All Blacks in 2024
The Brave Blossoms will face the All Blacks on Saturday, 26 October in the eighth test match played between the two teams since their first encounter in Osaka, back in 1987. While Japan has yet to taste victory against the All Blacks, last year in Tokyo, they pushed the three-time World Champions all the way, in front of a packed National Stadium, eventually going down 31-38.
Japan Rugby Football Union Chairman, Kensuke Iwabuchi said:
“We are delighted to be regularly hosting one of the world’s great rugby teams in the All Blacks and know that rugby fans in Japan and across Asia will be looking forward with great anticipation to this match. The JRFU will work closely with New Zealand Rugby to make the most of this great opportunity to expand the popularity of rugby in the region and to further develop the competitiveness of the Brave Blossoms by regularly playing against one of the world’s best teams.”
New Zealand Rugby CEO, Mark Robinson said:
“It’s great to have the All Blacks heading back to Japan so soon after such a closely
contested Test in Tokyo last October. We are committed to building closer ties with Japan,
growing the game in the region and delivering on our recent Memorandum of
Understanding with Japan Rugby. It’s an exciting time for rugby globally and in the Asia-
Pacific region and this Test will only build on that excitement.”
Further details for the fixture, including match venue, kick-off time, ticketing information and broadcast schedule will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
