Japanese Rugby Raises ¥28 Million for Tonga Tsunami Relief Effort

A joint fundraising initiative between the Japan Rugby Football Union and JAPAN RUGBY LEAGUE ONE has to date raised more than ¥28 million to support the people of Tonga following the recent underwater volcanic eruption and devastating tsunami on January 15.

The ¥28 million* collected until March 31, will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to support ongoing reconstruction efforts within affected communities throughout the country. The fundraising initiative by Japan Rugby Football Union remains ongoing, with future funds going to World Rugby’s Tonga Rugby Union Rebuilding Fund.
