Brave Blossoms Set to Take on Ireland
The Japan Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce that Japan’s National Rugby Team, the Brave Blossoms, will play Ireland on July 3, 2021 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The team will travel to Ireland following their match against the British & Irish Lions on June 26, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The match holds extra significance as this is the first meeting of the two nations since Japan defeated Ireland during their pool match at Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan.
The Japan National Team Director, Yuichiro Fuji commented.:
“We’re delighted to be playing test match rugby again after such a long time, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Both the Irish team and the British and Irish Lions will be incredibly strong and provide a major challenge for us. While its hugely disappointing that we cannot play in front of our Japanese fans during this test match window, we are truly grateful for the opportunity to play again and we will fight hard for our fans back home. The Irish team will no doubt be looking to take revenge against us following our match in Shizuoka at the 2019 World Cup, however we will meet this challenge as one united team and we count on the ongoing support of all our fans in Japan and around the world.”
