JRFU President comments on SUNWOLVES departure from Super Rugby

JRFU President, Mr Shigetaka Mori said, “The 2020 season has come to an end for the much-loved SUNWOLVES. Their tenacious attitude and determination inspired many people to support them. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all of the fans and other people who have given them lots of support. I would also like to express my deepest thanks to all of the players and staff involved in the SUNWOLVES over the past five years for their dedicated contribution to the team. The path the SUNWOLVES have taken since their launch five years ago will remain with us for a very long time.

In this regard, when people talk about Japan’s Rugby World Cup success achieved last year, it is equally said by many fans that the SUNWOLVES was right in the middle to drive such success.

We would like to make the most of the vast experience brought the SUNWOLVES and keep working on improving Japan rugby even further, together with fans and everyone involved”
