The fifth and final round of the Japan Rugby Top League Cup 2019 took place on Friday, 19 July and Saturday, 20 July 2019 at various locations across Japan.

In the first of three Friday games, Suntory edged out Panasonic 23-19 at the Chichibu ground in Tokyo. The win gave Suntory top spot in Pool A.

Elsewhere, Pool B rivals NTT Docomo and NTT Communications met in Osaka with the latter winning 36-6. Meanwhile, Kobe hosted NEC at the Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium with the home side looking to keep their undefeated record intact in Pool D. NEC led early in the second half, but the Top League titleholders turned up the heat to run out comfortable 47-26 winners to top their pool.

The other eight games were played on Saturday, starting with Ricoh thumping Mazda 82-0 at Chichibu in Pool D. The Black Rams ran in 14 unanswered tries with number eight Shuhei Matsuhashi touching down five times.

In a double header at the Sagamihara Gion Stadium in Kanagawa prefecture, Kurita pulled off their first win of the Cup with a hard-fought 21-10 victory over Shimizu in Pool A in the early game. Canon did it tough in their 22-8 win over Mitsubishi Sagamihara in the latter game in Pool C.

In another double header, this time at Suzuka city in Mie prefecture, Kintetsu made it four wins from five starts in Pool D with a 45-12 victory over Toyota Industries in the early game and Honda did enough to beat Hino 24-19 in Pool A in the late game.

Further, in a third Saturday double header, at the Level-5 Stadium in Fukuoka, Kyuden succumbed 62-17 to Toshiba in the first game. Five straight wins for Toshiba saw them top the Pool B standings on 23 points. Meanwhile, Yamaha outscored Sanix eight tries to one in their 52-7 in the second game for their third win in Pool B.

In the final game of round five, Kyushu-based Coca-Cola stayed on the island to face Kamaishi in Kumamoto in their Pool C encounter. The locals hit their straps against the northerners, enjoying a comfortable 52-12 win.
