On Friday, in the Championship Cup, the Sakura Sevens fell to France 33-7 in their opening game before beating Brazil 19-14 in the Challenge Trophy quarterfinals.
On Saturday, Japan played Fiji in the Challenge Trophy semi-finals, coming home with a narrow 15-14 victory.
Later on Saturday, England beat Japan 31-5 in the Challenge Trophy final. England scored five tries to one in a powerful display of rugby. Holly Aitchison, Abigail Brown, Deborah Fleming, Natasha Hunt and Sarah McKenna touched down for England while Yume Hirano scored the only points for Japan.
The win saw England finish ninth overall in the standings with the Sakura Sevens ending the tournament in tenth place.
