JAPAN XV to Play Hong Kong China XV in Hong Kong

The Japan Rugby Football Union is delighted to announce that the JAPAN XV will play the Hong Kong China Men’s XV at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Friday, October 24. Kicking off at 19:00 local time, 20:00 JST, this will be the second fixture played between the JAPAN XV and a Hong Kong China side this year following a training match held in Beppu City in May.

The announcement follows the signing of an MOU between the JRFU and Hong Kong China Rugby back in March. With Hong Kong China having qualified for their first-ever Men’s Rugby World Cup in 2027, the match will kick off an intensive preparation phase for Hong Kong China Rugby as they build towards Australia in 2027.

In their last meeting in Beppu, the JAPAN XV defeated Hong Kong China 64-12. Fresh off their historic RWC2027 qualification and playing in front of their home fans, Hong Kong China will no doubt be looking to take the fight right to their visitors.

The match adds yet another fixture to an already action-packed autumn rugby season for Japan. The weekend before, the JAPAN XV are set to host Australia A in a one-off match at YODOKO Sakura Stadium in Osaka on Saturday, October 18. The day after the Hong Kong China match, the Brave Blossoms will host the Wallabies in their massive Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2025 fixture on Saturday, October 25 at Tokyo’s National Stadium.

Following the Australia test in Tokyo, the Brave Blossoms will then depart for their tour of Europe with test matches lined up against South Africa, Ireland, Wales and Georgia.

Tickets for the match against the Hong Kong China Men’s XV will go on sale soon. For further information and updates, please head to hkrugby.com.
