Japan to Host Wales in June 2020

On 10 January 2020, the Japan Rugby Football Union announced that Japan would host Wales in June 2020. The one-off test is set to be played at the ECOPA stadium in Shizuoka prefecture on Saturday 27 June 2020.

Besides the recent Rugby World Cup held in Japan, this will be the first time for Wales to tour Japan since 2013. It was on that tour that Japan beat Wales for the very first time, winning 23-8 in Tokyo.

After the test in Japan, Wales travel to New Zealand to play the All Blacks in Auckland on 4 July and Wellington on 11 July.

Wales head coach Wayne Pivac was quoted as saying, “Going back to Japan for Wales will be a really big fixture on the back of a really successful Rugby World Cup for Japan as hosts both on and off the field. The squad and the Welsh Rugby Union made a huge impression on the country during the Rugby World Cup and attracted a lot of local support, so it will be great to take the team back to Japan for the first summer test.”
